Helping others just comes naturally to nurse practi- tioner Deanna Curtis, owner and manager of Curtis Family Clinic in Searcy, who said that caring for
illnesses and promoting wellness are her main goals when treating her patients.
“I just love to fix stuff for people,” she said. “It is truly rewarding to improve the way someone feels when they are not well.”
A native of northeast Arkansas, Curtis relocated to central Arkansas in the early 1990s with her husband, Glenn, who is also a nurse practitioner. Curtis earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from Ar- kansas State University in Jonesboro, and she also earned a master’s degree in business from Harding University in Searcy.
Curtis has taken care of patients as a nurse practitioner for 26 years. In 2009, she joined McCrory Family Clinic in McCrory. When the clinic decided to expand its reach by opening another location, Curtis opened the clinic at 1621 E. Beebe-Capps Expressway in September 2013.
As owner, manager and nurse practitioner at the clinic, Curtis said she does a bit of everything. In addition to

directing patient care, she also manages the practice as a whole.
The clinic offers a variety of health care services, including family health care, prevention and wellness; women’s health care; Obagi skin care and radiance peel treatments; Boston Heart risk assessment; electrocardio- grams; sports and school exams; digital X-rays; laboratory services; and minor ambulatory procedures.
In addition, the practice now offers CoolSculpting tech- nology, which provides a nonsurgical way to eliminate fat. CoolSculpting technology uses temperature to target fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin unharmed.
“My favorite moments are those that help someone live a healthier life, such as reducing risks for heart dis- ease by controlling cholesterol, helping a patient stop smoking, or improving control of blood pressure or dia- betes,” Curtis said.
When she is not at the office, Curtis said, she enjoys

“I hope my patients begin to see health care not only as a path to treat an illness, but as a way to improve their overall health and wellness,” she said.
