Even out-of-state couples flock to beautiful sights in The Natural State for their weddings. Although Lexie and Garrett were both graduates of Texas Tech University, the two met after graduating when they attended a post-football-game gathering at a mutual friend’s house. One of their most memorable dates
was a spontaneous road-trip detour to Tara Winery in Athens, Texas, where Garrett proposed a year later. Lexie knew exactly where she wanted to say “I do.” Three months into their relationship, the couple took a trip to Hot Springs, and Lexie was stunned by the photos of Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens that she found while planning the trip. “I told him this was where we were going to get married someday,” she said. “I had never actually been to Anthony Chapel or the Arlington Hotel, but the day after we got engaged, I called and asked for their soonest available date and booked it on the spot.”
THE EVENT
Jerry Melson, minister of Lexie’s childhood church, performed the ceremony in front of 150 guests. Lexie’s mother was in the hospital at the time, but the couple’s friends and family set up a live stream for her. “Although she was not able to be there in person, it made the day so special to have her there as I married the love of my life,” Lexie said.
THE ATTIRE
Lexie said she wanted a gown with sleeves, but she did not expect to fall in love with the form- tting, o -the-shoulder mermaid dress she found at Pence and Panache
in Burleson, Texas. “Once I put it on, it was exactly how I saw myself as a bride,” she said. e nine bridesmaids chose black gowns from various shops, and the men wore tuxedos from Men’s Wearhouse.
