Sowell Architects has been a building block in Conway’s substantial growth for the past 21 years. Focusing on aesthetics, function and cost, the firm produces seam- less and efficient projects.
“We are grateful for all the projects that have been entrusted to us. We try to con- duct our business according to Christian principles, realizing that all we are and all we have come from above,” said Rik Sowell, president and founder. “We are committed to this area and intend to continue to im- pact the River Valley by offering attractive and functional places to live, work and play for another 20 years and beyond.”
The company is a full-service architectural firm offering a variety of design-related services, from site analysis and interior design to building design and construction supervision and everything in between. Its primary focus is on commercial and religious projects, including office buildings, clinics, shopping centers, retail spaces, schools and churches.
“We are a small firm so everyone gets to do a little of everything — designing, drawing, bidding, observing construction, selecting colors, writing specs, meeting with clients, etc.,” Sowell said.
“My favorite thing is the design process. You have to combine the client’s program and all the building-code requirements into an attractive and functional building.”
Sowell said he and the firm’s other architects enjoy the broad range of activities their work involves.
Creating tangible ideas from concrete is a satisfying part of the work for Sowell and his team.
“When you walk into a building upon completion, there is tremendous satisfac- tion in knowing that environment was con- ceived in your head and that it feels exactly the way you envisioned it,” Sowell said.
