24N • BEST OF THE BEST
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2020 • ADVERTISING SUPPLEMENT TO THE ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE
voted Best Florist over 21 years
Atrusted name in the funeral pro- fession, Roller Funeral Homes is no stranger to awards. The company’s compassionate staff and respectful service have garnered nu- merous awards in years past, but owner Renata Jenkins Byler said she is just as thrilled as ever to be voted Best Funeral Home in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Best of the Best contest.
“After receiving this honor for 21 con- secutive years, I can assure you that we are just as humbled as in year 1,” Byler said. “My family and our co-workers, who I consider family, are deeply appreciative of this honor and will continue to earn this award every year.”
Her grandfather, Denver Roller, began the company in Mountain View in 1941, she said. The forward-thinking entrepre- neur brought the first crematory to Arkan- sas and was the first in the state to offer prepaid funeral services. The company now includes 29 funeral homes, nine cem- eteries and two crematories in Arkansas, along with a funeral home in Memphis.
Byler said she knew from an early age that she wanted to work in the funeral profession and feels blessed to be the third generation of her family to work at the business.
“Our focus is to exceed your expec- tations — not just meet them,” she said. “We take the time to get to know our fam- ilies and to serve and guide them before, during and after their journey through grief begins. The Roller difference doesn’t end when a funeral service is over.”
Family ownership allows the company to focus on providing personalized care and building long-lasting relationships with the families being served, she added.
“It is not out of the ordinary for a fam- ily to embrace us just as we embrace the family,” she said. “We get asked to come to lunch or dinner back at their house or church all the time after a service. There is a real bond there that we cherish, and that is when we know we have done a good job.”

A fixture in communities throughout Arkansas, Roller Funeral Homes usually provides red ribbons to schools each year during the weeklong Drug Abuse Prevention Campaign. However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company decided to supply local schools with masks this year, Byler said.
“During such an uneasy year, we want- ed to do anything we could to keep the children in our communities safe and ease the worry of parents,” she said.
