CHOOSING A VENUE THAT OFFERS IT ALL
hoosing a wedding venue is an essential aspect of the wedding day. The venue dictates so many pieces of the puzzle for the big day, so brides and grooms must have a clear vision and a good game
plan when researching and choosing a venue.
Kaitie Gill, a wedding planner and the owner of Sailboat Weddings, recommends determining the time of year the couple would like to get married before beginning
the search for a venue.
“The time of year you want to get married greatly deter-
mines the type of venue you’ll need,” she said. “If you’ve always dreamed of having an outdoor wedding but are looking at a spring or winter date, you might need to re- consider your location, or at least have an indoor option for your guests in case of inclement weather.”
No matter the time of year or the location, it is import- ant to set realistic expectations for a vision and venue.
Uche Onyeyiri, the owner of Angelo’s Garden, cautions brides to set their sights in reality as they search for a venue. “Pinterest is wonderful, but it’s a collection of the best of the best,” he said. “The photo of your ideal wedding might be in California in the fall, but you’re getting married in Arkansas in the summer — it’s not going to look the same. I encourage my brides to make sure their expectations make sense for the weather, time of year and location where
they’re getting married.”
