Coach optimistic in his final season

Cabot coach Mike Malham thinks his final season as the Panthers head coach could be a good one.
Malham announced his retire- ment during the summer after 38 years and 297 wins at the Class 7A school. He’s been coaching 41 years, including three as an assistant at Jack-
sonville High School.
“Forty-one years is a long time,” Malham
said. “Obviously, I’d like to have a great year in my last season. Whatever happens, I’m done. I’m ready to do some other things, not having that day-to-day worry about everything. If I get bored, I’m sure I’ll find something to do.”
Malham said his team, which has more than 100 players, is “a good group.”
