“We need to run the ball, as well as create turnovers and hold onto the football,” he said. “Last year, we gave the ball away, and we weren’t able to take it away.
“We need to be able to run the ball right when we need to, and that’s what we need to be focused on.”
Kelley said the team just needs to continue to get better at what it has been doing since junior high.
“We have changed a few things, but the ex- ecution still needs to be there,” he said.
Searcy will open the season Friday against Morrilton.

the coach said.
“They catch the ball well, which is a big
thing for our receivers,” Kelley said. “Tanner did not play last year, and Dallas did not have much playing time.
“Griffin played a lot of special teams for us, and he played in a lot of junior varsity games as well.”
Kelley said the three receivers have really stepped up and are going to fill some of the spots left offensively.
“I think we are going to have some talented guys step in and fill those roles,” he said.
Kelley said one of the biggest things Searcy has to focus on is to get one of the top seeds in the playoffs and earn a bye.
“We want to win a conference champion- ship, and once that takes place, we want to see if we can get to War Memorial,” Kelley said. “I want to get this program to where it has never been before.”
In order to do that, the Lions have to be able to run the ball when they have to, the coach said.
