Activities such as putting together a puzzle can be a constructive way to keep children entertained during cold winter days while also giving adults bonding time with their little loved ones.

One inexpensive way parents can keep their children entertained on a cold day at home is to create a scavenger hunt. Parents can come up with a checklist of items the children must find in the house. This can include easy in- structions, such as telling them to “go find a purple crayon,” or something more com- plicated, such as a riddle they have to figure out. Through this method, parents can use household items without having to purchase materials for the game.
Another idea is to create an indoor obstacle course with the children. This activity may require a little more effort to set up and take down, but it will keep the kids’ attention. Par- ents can set up small obstacles around the house, such as small jumps the children have to make or paths that weave through furni- ture. Parents can then time the children to see if they can beat their previous time.

Whether it’s baking cookies with the chil- dren or teaching them a new craft such as crocheting, make sure to have a list of activ- ities ready for those cold winter days to keep children entertained. It is a good way to pass the time and to spend quality time with one’s children.
