Best inside players: Coach Michelle Bird- song said Mack is one of the top inside play- ers because of her quickness and jumping ability. “She also has the ability to step outside and score,” Birdsong said. “Kortni VanWinkle is young — a sophomore — but posts really strong and defends really well in the paint.”
Best outside players: “Keke Broadway handles the ball really well, passes really well and has great body control on the drive,” Birdsong said. “Allie Brown shoots really well from the outside but also has the ability to take her man off the dribble. Kayla Church- well shoots the ball really well from outside. Ebonee Whitney has a great shot from the outside; she passes really well and can handle the ball. Sydney Hicks is a great defender on the outside with a lot of quickness and a good outside shot.”
How will you match/exceed/fall short of your success from last year? “We return four
starters and bring up several sophomores that will step in this year and compete, so our expectations for this year are high,” the coach said.
Team strengths: “Our team will be a lot deeper this year with four returners and sev- eral sophomores that will see a lot of playing time,” Birdsong said. “Our outside shot has improved, along with our game experience.”
