we can do that and take the next step. We have a great group of seniors, which is always a necessary foundation when talking about having a good team.”
Team strengths: “We shoot the ball pretty good from the perimeter, and our ball han- dling at most positions is above average,” Summers said.
Team weaknesses: Size is going to be a weakness for the Lions this year. “We still don’t have any big men, so matching up with teams like Cabot and Jonesboro who have multiple players over 6-6 is going to be a chal- lenge,” Summers said. “Our three post men are extremely hardworking, but no one is over 6-4. That makes it tough going through this conference.”
Games to watch: “If you just want to see good basketball, any game in this conference would be good to watch,” Summers said.
Toughest opponents: “Jonesboro and Cabot are both going to contend for state titles in their classes,” Summers said. “And I’m not disrespecting North Little Rock, West Memphis or Marion, who also will be very talented this year.”
College prospects: Jeremiah Clifton
In a nutshell: “Our season will come down to a couple of things. First, we have to find a point guard to fill James Wades’ shoes, who graduated last year. We’ve had a sophomore, a senior and a junior move in who will be competing for that job, and it is wide open as of now,” Summers said. “Secondly, as I said, we are not that big, so rebounding and our perimeter shooting staying consistent will be big keys to our success.”
