ALLEN FURNITURE
Store offers exceptional customer service, products
The Allen family has built a tradition of exceptional service for over 55 years by providing quality furniture and customer service in the Greers Ferry Lake area.
Greg and Candyce Allen took over the family business from Greg’s parents, Max and Dianne Allen, after Max retired in June 2012. Max had been with the business since 1975, when it was owned by a family friend, Rufo Martin. Max took over the business in 1986.
Greg and Candyce’s 8-year-old twins, Kenneth and Chloe, accompany the couple to work every day, just like Greg once did with his parents, he said.
“I’ve been around this store since I was about 4 years old,” Greg said.
Growing up around the business helped instill in Greg the importance of customer service.
“My parents taught me to treat your customers well and be nice to everybody,” he said. “In a small town, you get repeat
business because of word of mouth, so you always want to treat people well.”
The furniture store offers everything from mattresses to decorations, including a full line of La-Z-Boy and Ashley Furniture brand recliners, rockers, sleepers, dining- and living-room furniture, bedroom suites, computer desks, entertainment centers, bookcases and TV stands. Allen Furniture also carries Sleeptronic mattresses.
“Our stuff tends to be a more traditional look — not too country and not too modern, either,” Greg said.
Allen Furniture still focuses on customer service, with free lake-area deliver y.
The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
HS: HEART & SOUL
Boutique combines hometown comfort with retail selection
When visitors walk into HS: Heart & Soul, they can plan on staying for a while. While it may be a boutique, the shop has a plethora of merchandise.
Owner Lauren Colby Feagin said the store carries a wide range of clothing and accessories.
“Among our clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags and candles, we carry eclectic gifts and decor and one-of-a-kind items, including vintage treasures,” she said. “Our home decor ranges from small accessories to wall art and statement pieces.”
Among this large range of items, HS carries more than 100 brands of clothing in extra-small to plus sizes. Feagin said the store stands out from others like it because of its abundance of and consistent change in products.
“A customer can come in twice in the same week and still find something new because there is so much to look at,” she said. “I want my customers to always look
forward to coming in because of our array of different items that is always growing.” Along with having a large selection of
clothing to choose from, Feagin said, she wants customers to feel comfortable and self-confident.
“When it comes to the individual, I want her to feel beautiful in the skin she’s in,” Feagin said. “I love assisting people in dressing for their body type, making their looks the most flattering.”
HS offers one-on-one assistance in gift shopping, personal styling, interior decorating and gift wrapping. The store carries lines such as Vera Bradley, Swan Creek, Articles of Society, Tyler Candle Co., Capri Blue, Rifle & Paper Co., Steve Madden, S’well, Heartstrings and much more.
