Merchants and Planters Bank
Merchants and Planters Bank opened in 1946, when local farmers and merchants were growing as the economy was on a post- war fast track. Several community leaders formed a local bank that would serve their community and meet their financial needs. That philosophy began a tradition that hasn’t changed in over 70 years. Merchants and Planters has expanded into five coun- ties, with a total of 10 banking locations and one mortgage lending office. In addition to full-service banking, Merchants and Planters
offers a trust and wealth-management department and a line of insurance and investment products through M&P Insur- ance and Investments Services.
GOOD TO KNOW: Merchants and Planters Bank is in the process of building a new, full-service banking location at 3081 Harrison St. that will provide even more con- venience and give the bank’s staff members the opportunity to get to know more of their business and residential neighbors.
