BASEBALL
Conference: 6A/7A East
Coach: Ronnie Goodwin
Assistant coaches: Cody Perrin and
Craig Nyborg
2015 record:17-9 overall; 10-4 conference Returning starters: Chase Kyzer, Denver
Mullins, Evan Hooper and Blake McCutchen Best hitter for average: “Denver Mullins is probably our highest hitter for average, due to his discipline at the plate, understanding of the strike zone and ability to keep the bat in the zone longer than most high school hitters,” coach Ronnie Goodwin said. “He led our team in hitting in conference games, hitting over .400
in conference play.”
Best power hitter: Goodwin said he doesn’t
have many true “power guys,” but he said “Den- ver Mullins, Evan Hooper and Eric Larsen all have tremendous gap power with the ability to run the ball out of the yard.”
Best fielder: “Evan Hooper is our best defender because of his ability to cover so much ground in center field,” Goodwin said. “In my opinion, he is the best defensive cen- ter fielder in the state.”
Best speed: “Evan Hooper is also our fast- est player,” Goodwin said. “He can steal bases and cover center field from gap to gap because he is a 6.3-6.4 runner in the 60-yard dash.”
Best arm: Hooper also earns this distinc- tion, Goodwin said. “He throws the ball 90 plus mph from the outfield, and more importantly, it is an accurate arm.”
Best pitcher: “Chase Kyzer is our No. 1 on CABOT BASEBALL continued on 8SS
