Abasic long-sleeved button-up shirt — in either a solid color or an eye-catching print — is one of the basic building blocks of any wardrobe. But did you know that plain-Jane shirt can also be the focal point of an on-trend, high-fashion outfit?
Here are a few out-of-the-box ideas to try.
1 ’90S CHIC
This casual look is perfect for
the weekend! Leaving the
shirt unbuttoned, loosely tie the sleeves at the front of your waist, allowing the rest of the shirt to hang loose behind you.
2 FLIRTY OPEN BACK To achieve this alluring open-
back look, fold the shirt collar inward and button the top button only. Turn the shirt around and put your arms through the sleeves. For a more daring look on a hot summer day, swap out the cami for a midriff-baring tube top.
3 ELEGANT WRAPUP For an elegant wraparound top,
leave the shirt unbuttoned. Pull the right shirttail across to the left and tuck into your pants or skirt; then pull the left shirttail across to the right and tuck it in. If necessary, use a small safety pin to secure the V-neck from the underside of the shirt.
SWEETHEART TUBE
4 Without putting your arms through the sleeves, begin at
the bottom and button the shirt halfway up; position the opening just above your bust, forming a “sweetheart” neckline. Wrap the sleeves around the back and bring the ends back to the front; knot them just below the bust to secure. Looks fabulous with a lacy cami!

TUBULAR TUNIC
Soak up the sun with this shoulder-baring tunic. Neatly fold in the collar, then fold again until the sleeves are at the top of the shirt. Position the center back of the shirt above your bust, then tie the sleeves in back to secure. The back of the shirt can be left open for
a breezy look, or secured with safety pins or a wide belt.
MINI SKIRT
6 Button the shirt up halfway, beginning at the bottom, and
position the opening at your waist; wrap the sleeves around the back, bring the ends to the front and knot them to secure. Looks great with leggings or as a cool swimsuit cover-up!
MENSWEAR TUNIC
7 For a classic yet trendy look, wear a longer, slightly oversized
tunic over leggings or skinny jeans; finish with a stylish belt.
KNOTTY & NICE
8 Create an instant crop top! Just leave the shirt unbuttoned, and
tie the shirttails in a loose knot at your waist.
