One of the area’s most popular attractions, located in the middle of Greers Ferry Lake, is Sugar Loaf Mountain Is- land, Arkansas’ only mountain island trail. The island rises 1,000 feet above sea level and offers panoramic views of one of the nation’s first designated National Scenic Trails. Getting to the island is half the fun.Visitors can take the Sugar Loaf Shuttle, which now offers daily trips from the Fairfield Bay Marina.

Where else can one explore a mountain island, then hit the links? Fairfield Bay has two challenging championship golf courses that offer clean fairways and beautiful sights. Want to try something different? The Indian Hills Golf Course also features foot golf — soccer style “football on a golf course.” With a golf style for every personality and skill set, there are also two unique mini-golf courses, along with a fun nine-hole disc-golf course.
Water sports galore
Anglers will surely want to fish Greers Ferry Lake, which is famous for its striped hybrid and smallmouth bass. Some of the best trout fishing in the state is also nearby. If water play is more your speed, Fairfield Bay Marina is the place to go. The full-service marina offers watercraft rentals of all types — pontoons, ski boats, kayaks, paddle boards and Eclipses. Fairfield Bay is also home to a variety of signature events throughout the year. Activities not to be missed include the 4th of July Festival at the Bay on July 3 and 4, featuring a tra- ditional 4th of July parade through town, and fireworks over the lake; the Luau at the Lake in August; and OktoberFest on Oct. 3, with some of the most fun and tasty German fare in the state.
