2H HOME SHOW • ADVERTISING SUPPLEMENT TO THE ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE • FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2017
The Home Show is presented annually by the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock. The event provides the opportunity for patrons to learn about services and products needed for remodeling or building from the ground up.
Get the right answers from the right people at the Home Show
There are lots of reasons to attend the annual Home Show, presented by the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock (HBA-GLR). The show provides Arkansans with a one-stop shop for all of their home needs at one convenient loca- tion. It provides attendees the opportunity to pick up new ideas on building, remodeling or decorating a home. And it features many of the emerging technologies and industry trends that patrons may not have seen be- fore.
In addition, the event offers a chance to get the right answers to your building and design questions from the right people. There are two booths — the Ask the Build- er booth and the Ask the Designer booth — where patrons can get free expert advice from professional homebuilders and expe- rienced interior designers.
Tony Dillon, president of the HBA-GLR, explained why these Home Show “extras” are so valuable for patrons.
“For years we have hosted an ‘Ask the Builder’ booth, and it’s been very well re- ceived. Last year we added the ‘Ask the Designer’ booth for advice about interior design,” he said. “As popular as these booths have been, I’m always surprised that more people don’t take advantage of this free service during the Home Show. How often do you get the benefit of knowledge from seasoned professionals and not have to pay a dime for it?”
Dillon said one of the biggest missteps he sees people make when planning to build or remodel a home is seeking advice from fly- by-night solicitors who are concerned more with making a buck than making sure the
customer gets sound advice from a licensed professional.
“The great thing about our ‘Ask the Builder’ and ‘Ask the Designer’ booths is that you know you’re dealing with experienced pros who are going to give you the right an- swers to your questions,” he said.“ These are skilled individuals who have years of successful projects under their belts. They are the best of the best in our industry.
“I encourage anyone at the show this weekend who is even remotely considering buying, building, remodeling or redesigning a home to take full advantage of these free services,” he said.
Shannon Smiatek, executive officer of the Home Builders Association, said her mem- bers enjoy the opportunity to help attendees make good decisions.
“The builders you talk to will offer great advice on house plans, new neighborhoods and probably a lot of things you may not have considered,” she said. “Our interior design experts can offer help with paint col- ors, furniture placement, full room design, kitchens, bathrooms, curb appeal and a lot more.”
HOME SHOW DAYS AND HOURS
Co-chairs of the annual event Frank Curtis and Tanya Malcolm said the show’s days and hours will be the same as last year’s, but that the mix of vendors changes from year to year.
“The Home Show runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” Curtis said.
“Each Home Show is a little different. We plan the event to highlight trends in home building, home design and home
