ewelry often symbolizes life’s shining moments. Whether a diamond adorns an engagement ring that will unite a loving couple or an anniversary necklace that celebrates 50 years of marriage, jewelry can be treasured for a lifetime.
Selecting such an important gift can be a daunting task, but the experts at Sissy’s Log Cabin work to ensure that each customer finds a piece that fits his or her occasion and budget.
“We are a client-driven store where the customer is al- ways right,” store manager JR Richard said. “We strive every day to build on this core value that Sissy [Jones] founded her business on in 1970.”
This year, readers of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette voted Sissy’s Log Cabin as Best Jewelry Store in the news- paper’s annual readers’ poll. Richard said staff members are excited to be selected as Best of the Best.
“This is a tremendous honor, and we are very humbled by it,” he added, crediting the company’s success to its customers, whom staff members consider to be family, and the store’s merchandise, which is handpicked by Jones and her son, company president Bill Jones.
“Bill and Sissy travel the world to make sure that we have
the best selection of jewelry at the best price,” Richard said. “We feature a lot of our larger pieces on TV commercials, but we really do have something to fit everyone’s budget.”
Staff members are trained to assist customers with sales, repairs and appraisals. Sissy appraised and sold antiques before she moved into the jewelry business. She has studied gemology at a variety of educational institutions, and she is a licensed appraiser of antique jewelry.
Many staff members have trained at the Gemological Insti- tute of America, and the company’s jewelers have completed extensive training throughout the world, Richard said.
“We have the best group of jewelry-sales professionals and jewelers,” he added. “I would put this staff up against any store in the nation.”
Although Sissy’s Log Cabin has grown to become the largest independently owned jewelry store in the state and offers locations in Pine Bluff, Little Rock, Jonesboro and Memphis, Richard said the company retains its commit- ment to the communities that have nurtured the business throughout the years.
“We contribute to dozens of organizations throughout the central-Arkansas area,” he said. “As Sissy says, ‘God gave us two hands: one to receive with and the other to bless with.’”
