having a way to provide all of the necessary information can turn out guests, as a couple, you have free rein to create a program that feels
to be a bride and groom’s best friend on their big day.
Wedding programs are a great way for guests to follow along with the wedding ceremony and keep up with the bridal party, musical piec- es and other special moments throughout the proceedings, while also functioning as a valuable keepsake for brides and grooms to look back
on years after the wedding and remember details of their big day.
“A program is one of those wedding details that serves a valuable purpose in both form and function,” said Sarah Hobart, owner of
Hobart Print Studio in Bryant.
Hobart said that typically, wedding programs provide guests with
the order of service or ceremony and explain any special customs or traditions in the ceremony. Programs may also acknowledge the wedding party and family of the couple, as well as relaying import- ant information regarding the schedule of events after the ceremony, such as the reception, along with directions to the site, if needed. Hobart added that a program also gives the bride and groom an opportunity to share personal sentiments, such as dedications, and express gratitude to the guests and wedding party for their love, en- couragement and support.
Along with its functionality, the wedding program should also re- ect the overall tone of a wedding, tying in aesthetic elements that match the wedding style to add personality and work toward a cohe- sive theme. This can be done through corresponding paper products, typeface and color schemes when creating the programs. Personal em- blems, custom monograms and other wedding motifs can be presented on the program, as well as decorative accents and embellishments.
“Every wedding ceremony is entirely unique, meaning that each wedding program is special in style and message,” Hobart said. “Whether simple or elaborate, your wedding program allows you to speak directly to your guests.”
Hobart added that in 20 years of guiding couples in creating custom wedding stationary, she has advocated that couples create a program that feels special to them. “Given the many distinguishing
special to you.”
