want is also just as important. The following are some tips on ways to communicate your photo needs to your photographer.
PICKING A PHOTOGRAPHER
Start by researching local photographers. Ask friends about their experiences, and check out the websites and social-media accounts of photographers in your area. For inspiration, you can also look at various websites and bridal publications.
“Find the style of photography you like best when it comes to their shooting style and editing; then do some research on how much professional photographers in your area cost,” said Callie Sterling, co-owner and photographer at Sterling Imageworks Photography in North Little Rock.
When you nd a photographer you like, make an appointment to meet him or her to make sure you get along. It is important to have a good relationship with the photographer, whom you will be spending a lot of time with. If your personalities clash, it can affect the photos.
“If you are like oil and water with your photographer, you’re going to have a stressful day,” said Jodi Holi eld, owner of Kadence Photography in Lonoke County. “It’s incredibly important that brides nd someone who matches their expectations, can get the job done and they get along with like an old friend.”
PHOTO NEEDS
“Remember, at the end of the day, the two of you will be married, regardless of what details went astray. Enjoy your day, and don’t stress.”
a variety of needs at various price points.
LOCATION
When taking engagement or bridal photos, pick a location that means something to you and your groom. The location will help make you more comfortable, which can translate to more natural- looking pictures.
“For example, I photographed an employee of the Arkansas Travelers at the stadium for their engagement session,” Sterling said. “I have photographed a chef with his ancee in the garden where some of the food is grown for his restaurant. I love unique things like that when it comes to engagement sessions.”
WEDDING-DAY PHOTOS
For photos with family, pick a time that is convenient for everyone. Holi eld recommends taking these photos either an hour before the ceremony or an hour after the ceremony, which would put them during the reception. However, she said to prioritize photos of the couple over extended family.
“Photos with everyone can be taken as easily at the reception and will be just as special, while maximizing your timeline,” Holi eld said.

TIPS
“Many costs can be cut when planning your wedding. For example, skip the monogrammed napkins if you don’t have the budget for them or don’t have an open bar. But your photography will last forever, so don’t skimp there.”
