hit right at people,” Hoffman said. “In our JV games, we were scoring and coming up with some big hits, and I saw some improvement in our power.
“We are a little stronger and a little bigger this year. Overall, I have been pleased.”
He said senior Carlee Swaim, in her three seasons combined, has only struck out 7 times. Last year, she batted .539 with 30 RBIs, 7 doubles and 2 home runs.
Junior Mckenzie Worley batted .310 a year ago with 8 RBIs, 2 doubles and a home run.
Hoffman said Worley has a lot of speed, and senior Lindsey Nail “has really improved her hitting.” Last year, Nail batted .300 with 23 RBIs and 4 doubles.
“Junior Maggie Vanemburg is probably my most improved player,” Hoffman said. “She’s really gotten better with her footwork and range, and her arm has really improved, as well as her bat.
“She has put in a lot of extra work and extra time. She has a great attitude. She has been wanting to get a starting spot for two years now, and she has worked really hard to earn it.”
