OWHAT IS A STYLED DETAIL SHOT?
ne big trend for wedding photos in the past few years is the styled detail shot, but what does that mean, exactly?
A styled detail shot is a photograph of the little details and accessories that belong to the couple, said Callie Sterling, owner of Sterling Imageworks in North Little Rock. These shots have become popular because it’s an easy way to showcase the little things that are important to the bride and groom on their wedding day. These items can include the invi- tation suite, shoes, jewelry, a garter, family heirlooms and other various meaningful items.
Sterling said she loves these shots because it gives her the chance to be creative in styling, and they can be beautiful rep- resentations of the couple and their family. Sterling said she usually shoots styled detail shots rst on the wedding day be- cause many of the items will be worn by the bride and groom later in the day. She said the shots aren’t too dif cult but can take a bit of time to lay out and style. Sterling also recommends that the couple set aside jewelry, invitations and other sta- tionery, shoes, a garter, orals, vintage stamps and any other meaningful items to be included in the shots.
“Wedding days can be stressful if they are not organized well and have a central point of information. Hire or desig- nate someone to cover those tasks. If you’re worrying about arrangements and tiny details and have too many people asking you questions about where things go and what do to with deco- rations, you aren’t going to be able to enjoy your day.”

“My biggest piece of advice is to have someone coordinate the wedding day for you. It helps to have someone there to keep everyone on task and keep things moving along.”

“I feel a big part of choosing a photographer is to make the time for a face-to-face meeting. Not only is their style import- ant, but the way you interact with each other and having a good comfort level are priorities. Your comfort level will most de nitely show in the images.”
