reparing a bride’s skin for her wedding day — not just her face, but her entire body — is essential to obtain that beautiful wedding-day glow. It is wise to consider the types of procedures and treatments that are available as early
as possible so that her skin has time to heal and there is time to complete longer treatments.
Melody Burgener, master esthetician and owner of Melody’s Skin Care in Maumelle, recommends researching a skin-care specialist at least three to six months before the wedding.
“If you have a speci c concern with your skin’s appearance — including acne, dry or oily skin, discoloration or ne lines — this is the time to discuss a treatment plan with a skin-care professional,” she said. “When it comes to skin care, there are no overnight miracle treatments or products.”
At the top of the list for many brides’ pre-wedding skin prep is hair removal. There are several options, including a more permanent solution with laser hair removal.
Ideal Image MedSpa in Little Rock specializes in laser hair remov- al and aims to provide quality service and expert care. Hayley Foxx and Alexia Frederick, skin-care specialists with Ideal Image MedSpa, recommend laser hair removal for the bride, as well as the groom.
“We offer laser hair removal for anywhere on the face (except eyebrows), and every area on the body,” Foxx said.
“We have brides and grooms come in for treatment to prepare for their wedding day.” Frederick added.
Depending on the type of hair, laser hair removal can take multi- ple appointments over several months, but the results can be worth the time and nancial investment.
Sugaring hair removal is another option for brides (and grooms) who want to remove facial or body hair. Sugaring appointments should be made at least one month out from the wedding, with a nal session a few days before the big event.
Burgener was trained in Turkey in the art of sugaring and recom- mends the procedure over traditional waxing.
“We combine sugaring hair removal with a mud treatment to help skin recover and heal,” she said. “Procedures are customizable because everyone’s skin is different and needs different things.”
No matter what a bride’s (or groom’s) skin-care needs are, it is im- portant to prioritize and focus on a skin-care routine well in advance of the wedding day.
