“At one time, we were in the upper 80s. It’s not easy, and kids have decided not to play, and we’ve lost a couple that I wish we wouldn’t have. They decided to go a different route.”
At the same time, Langrell said, his Eagles are a talented group.
“This might be the most athletic team I’ve ever coached, from top to bottom,” he said. “We’ve got the tools in the shed. I’ve just told people that we’ve got to sharpen them and get the most out of them.
“We’ve got some kids who can run and catch. We’ve got some size. It’s just a change in culture, teaching life lessons as well. We’ve got to have great effort and become selfless, and we need tough guys. We need some tougher guys on this football team.”
Britton (5-11, 184) returns as the start- ing quarterback. He passed for 763 yards in nine games a year ago. He also rushed for 566 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Running backs include junior Draven Smith (6-1, 176) and senior Zeke Bell (5-9, 175). Smith rushed for 122 yards on
