27 BRAIN INJURY CONFERENCE The Brain Injury Conference: Manage-
ment and Treatment Issues 2018 will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Benton Event Center. This conference will provide current information regarding brain injury, acute man- agement of brain injury, altered mental states, ef- fects on cognitive function following a brain injury, concussion management and alternative therapy techniques. This program is designed for nurses, social workers, case managers, cer- tified brain-injury specialists, physical therapists, occupation- al therapists, speech-language pathologists and recreational therapists. 9 BLOOD DRIVE
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould will sponsor a blood drive in
partnership with the American Red Cross in the Auditorium in the Professional Office Building at AMMC from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each person who successfully donates blood at the blood drive will receive three $5 coupons to be used at the Auxiliary Gift Shop, Beacon’s Deli, the Cafeteria or The Foundation Station. 10 BENEFIT RODEO
The eighth annual Pink for Peitz Benefit Rodeo will be held Aug. 10 and 11 at the
Saddle Club Arena in Mountain Home. The event, which will begin at 7:30 both nights, will in- clude a variety of rodeo events, including mutton busting, bull riding and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Peitz Cancer Support House, a community outreach of Baxter Regional Medical Center. The center provides comprehensive support services for cancer pa-
tients and their families.

The Easterseals of Arkansas will host a 5K race and family fun walk at the Easterseals
headquarters in Little Rock. Registration for the event will start at 6:15 a.m., and the 5K will take off at 7 a.m., with an awards ceremony to follow. As a part of a series of events to commemorate the 70-year anniversary of
Dr. Irby Jones’ matriculation to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the role of UAMS in American history, the hospital will present The Quiet Pioneer: Dr. Edith Irby Jones, First African-American Medical Student in the South. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include lunch, as well as a presentation by Dr. Erick Messias at noon in the library’s Active Learning Center.
