2009 Arkansas State Spelling Bee

SCHOOL COORDINATOR INFORMATION
In order for your students to participate in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette spelling bee program, your school must enroll with the Scripps National Spelling Bee at www.spellingbee.com by the October 16 deadline. This will also serve as your registration with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Enrollment Fee: Scripps will again charge the $99 enrollment fee. Once enrolled, you will receive exclusive online access to the 2010 Classroom Pronouncer Guide, the 2010 School Pronouncer Guide, study materials, Great American SpellCheck materials, award certificates, a bonus from Encyclopaedia Britannica, and local spelling bee program information.

Early enrollment bonus: Enroll by Sept. 30, and your school will receive two bonuses from Encyclopaedia Britannica for use in your bee program for a total value of approximately $140.

If there are concerns about funding the $99 materials and enrollment fee, you may consider recouping the recouping the fee by assessing a nominal entry fee of $2 to $5. Alternatively, there is a sample fundraising letter attached to this message, which may be helpful in approaching a PTA/PTO organization, business, community organization or concerned parent to request sponsorship of your school. And don’t forget: Great American SpellCheck is an easy, educational way to cover the cost of your enrollment. As soon as you enroll, you’ll receive everything you need to run the Great American SpellCheck at your school.
