9 STEPS TO A QUICK
SMOKEY EYE
BY JENNIFER ELLIS PHOTOS BY CODY GRAVES SPECIAL SECTIONS STAFF
If you’re looking to fan the flames of desire this Valentine’s Day or just give your look a little added spark, a smokey eye is sure to do the trick. It doesn’t matter what color you use, and there are several ways to create a smokey look, from the soft and sensual to the bold and provocative, said Camille Stout, owner of Merle Norman locations in Cabot and Beebe.
“If you want to do a dramatic one, try grays, blacks and charcoals,” Stout said. “But a smokey eye doesn’t always have to be dark. You can do a smokey eye with any color.”
A detailed smokey eye is all about brushes, blending and shading, she said. But when you don’t have a lot of time, a quick smokey eye can work in a pinch. Here are nine simple steps to achieve a smoldering look in no time.
Begin by using an eyeliner that
1 glides on smoothly and smudges 2
easily. We chose a gel pencil. Make a thick line from the inner corner of the upper lash to a little bit beyond the outer corner of the eye.
Just below the line created in
4 step 3, draw a second line from 5
the outer corner of the eye, crossing the inside wing. Be sure to use plenty of liner.
From the outer corner of the
7 eye, draw liner across the lower 8
lash line.

way across the eyelid.
Continue blending until you 6 achieve the desired look. Fill in
with a dab of eye shadow or thicken the lines, if necessary.
Apply mascara.
