Yun Kim studied art throughout high school and college in South Korea, but she took a long break from painting until she moved from New Jersey to Mountain View in 2008. She joined the Beaten Path Studio Tour last year.

AREA ARTISTS OPEN STUDIOS TO VISITORS DURING TOUR

As the pottery wheel whirs, David Dahl- stedt throws a lump of clay on it and gradually forms a pot. There’s some- thing special about watching ar tists at work. Perhaps that is why people return to the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour in Mountain View each September.
The free, self-guided driving tour allows visitors to view the private studios of artists located within
30 miles of Mountain View’s Courthouse Square. Visitors can plan the trip using a guidebook that includes artist information, maps and directions to each studio.
Twelve artists participated in the first tour 15 years ago, said coordinator Becki Dahlstedt, David’s wife. Last year, the tour included 24 studios.
