Hard work pays off for Bryant

Last year, during the quarterfinals of the state tournament against Bentonville High School, Bryant High School junior Brooklyn Trammell hit a pinch-hit home
run to tie the game at 3. And despite eventually losing 4-3, Bryant head coach Lisa Dreher said Trammell earned that spot.
“She didn’t get to play a lot throughout the year, but she worked hard,” Dreher said. “She al- ways gave 100 percent at practice.
“She pinched hit, and she hit a line drive straight to the flag pole, and it tied the game. The fact that she did come off the bench and was pre- pared mentally for that spot, I think it meant a lot to those who were trying to earn their spot.”
Dreher said it also pushed Trammell to con- tinue to work and earned her a starting spot at first base this season.
Bryant finished 20-13 in Dreher’s first season as head coach since 2009. The team has all but two starters returning.
Junior Raven Loveless returns as the starting pitcher and will also play center field. She will rotate with freshman Gianni Hulett.
“Raven is super competitive,” Dreher said. “The bigger the game, the bigger she pitches.
“She is really good in that type of environment.”
Junior Gabriel Bonvillain will mostly play at third, and the coach said she is a good hitter who could play either corner.
Sophomore Meagan Chism will catch, and junior Sarah Evans will start at second this season. “[Senior] Macey Jaramillo will play right field
and third base,” Dreher said.
Junior outfielder Regan Ryan will lead off again
after setting the single season record for singles with 54. She finished with a .541 batting average.

“I think their experience will be a factor, going as far as we did in the state tournament,” Dreher said. “That really helped them see what it is like to play under that intensity.”
The state tournament will be held at Fayette-
ville High School this season, after Bryant hosted
in 2016.
