On certain evenings, pedestrians strolling past the Broadway Pocket Park or the Rialto Com- munity Arts Center on Morril-
ton’s Main Street may hear honeyed notes of bluegrass tunes and the resounding laughter of old and new friends.
From April to October, the Morrilton community bands together for Pickin’ in the Park, which takes place from 6-10 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month.
“We’re trying to get folks together to play a little music and have a good time,” said Lindell Roberts, upright bass player

and member of the Rialto Pickers. The music drifting through the air at Pickin’ in the Park runs the gamut from gospel and country to bluegrass and rock ‘n’ roll, he added.
“We just play, as a good friend of mine used to say, a good, eclectic scope of music,” he added.
In addition to plunky riffs, Pickin’ in the Park offers a variety of food and craft vendors, as well as children’s activities such as games and face-painting.
The monthly event provides Morrilton residents with a fun activity they can enjoy as a community, Roberts said.
