Allen Furniture in Heber Springs has been in business for more than 55 years and is widely believed to be the oldest retail store in town. Greg and Candyce Allen are continuing the practice of selling quality furniture and delivering personal customer service — a business philosophy that was handed down from Greg’s father, Max, who owned the store for 27 years. Greg has been around the furniture business since he was 5. The Allens now have 9-year- old twins, Kenneth and Chloe, and want to continue the family tradition. “It’s the perfect atmosphere for a family,” Candyce said. “We have the kids there, and my husband and I work together. There’s not a day that you walk in and you don’t see our kids playing house, playing soccer. Our kids are just a regular fixture in the store.”
