Best arm: Jones again. “She has an excel- lent arm at short and great range,” Hickey said. Best pitcher: The Lady Cats have a young pitching staff in 2016. Sophomore St. John will see her first varsity action on the mound, and freshman Shelby Reed will also see time. “They have different strengths and weaknesses that complement each other well,” Hickey said. College prospects: Jones, a senior catch- er and outfielder, has committed to play at Central Baptist College in Conway. Williams, a junior catcher and outfielder, has been offered a scholarship by Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. “She is a strong middle infielder with great speed and even better knowledge of the game,” Hickey said.
“We look for big things from her this year.” Games to watch: 7A/6A Central Confer- ence games are always competitive. Hickey said Bryant will have a great offense and solid pitching returning, and that Van Buren is in
the same situation.
Expectations for the 2016 season: “Work
hard, learn the game, and win a few ball games along the way,” Hickey said.
