Choose a new car dealer
WITH EVERETT BUICK GMC
Good car dealers aim to make the entire process of buying a car simple and straightforward. Finding a trustworthy dealer can help to ensure that you will have a simple, low-pressure transaction.
Purchasing a new car can seem like a daunting experience, especially if you have never done it before. Inexperienced car shoppers are often intimidated by the cost, the process and even by dealers who may try to overcharge them.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
“Customers are concerned they may be taken advantage of, and feel vulnerable,” said Susie Everett, owner of Everett Buick GMC in Benton. “They want to make sure they get an excellent vehicle for an excellent price. At Everett, we listen to our customers and treat them with respect and integrity. We want them to know we will treat them fairly. We provide quality in product and service, along with very fair prices.”
Finding a dealer you can trust will defuse anxiety, and the whole experience can become a simple, low-pressure transaction. Good car dealers will make the entire process of buying a car simple and straightforward.
“We listen, keep them informed, provide a pleasant atmosphere to make such an important purchase,” Everett said. “We provide soft drinks, coffee and cappuccinos, and doughnuts and cookies are available. We have a hostess checking on our customers as they wait in our service customer lounge.”
CHOOSE THE RIGHT CAR
Selecting the right automobile for your needs and lifestyle is es- sential. Large families may need an SUV or van to fit everyone into the vehicle, but if you’re a college student buying your first car, you

would probably be happy with a compact car such as coupe. The savings on gas will help ease your finances while you are in school.
Along with the car model, there are numerous options to consider. You might get a car with a navigation system, a moonroof, GPS and satellite radio, just to name a few.
If you have to commute long distances, think about purchasing a smaller car with a good fuel-economy rating. Hybrid cars can help you save money on gas. Anyone in a cold climate might look at vari- ous vehicles with either all-wheel or front-wheel drive.
“The Internet is an excellent resource, but an even better resource is a visit to the dealership and meet with trained and certified sales representatives,” Everett said.
CHOOSE THE DEALER
Once you have settled on a car model, check into area car dealers.
Finding several dealers who sell the brand of car you want is usu- ally best. The competition for your business will help you negotiate the total cost of your car.
Be sure to look for current discounts on the car you want. During specific times of the year, you might be able to get a great deal on a new car. This is particularly true during year-end sales.
“Incentives from the manufacture are available throughout the year, with great offers being promoted at any given time,” Everett said. “End-of-year sales are also a great time to buy a vehicle.”
Of course, you should test-drive a car before purchasing it.
When you begin your negotiations, remember that price isn’t ev- erything — service should play a role as well. You are building a long-term relationship with this dealer and manufacturer. It is not worth getting a less-than-satisfactory experience just to save a few dollars.
“We listen to our customers’ needs, and do our best to streamline the buying process,” Everett said. “Our service department is ready to serve our customers, and our salesmen continue a relationship after the sale and assist the customer as needed if service issues arise.”
It is essential that you feel comfortable with the dealership. Buy- ing a car is an expensive, long-term commitment. It is always better to find a car salesperson who is informative and friendly. It will make your transaction as simple and comfortable as possible.
