Located on beautiful Greers Ferry Lake, Peters Sugar Loaf Marina is a one-stop shop for anyone looking to have fun on the water.
Owners Bob and Tammy Peters have worked to make the ma- rina, which opened in 2007, a go-to destination for lake visitors. Since the couple bought it, Peters Sugar Loaf Marina has greatly expanded its services.
This summer, visitors to Peters Sugar Loaf Marina will find even more upgrades to the marina store.Tammy said that during the winter, the staff has worked to double the size of the current space, as well as its offerings. The store now offers a wide selection ofYeti coolers, Hyperlite boards and life jackets, Corkys shoes, and Costa sunglasses, shirts and hats, as well as other popular brands.
“We also have new shirt designs coming in every day,” she said.
Those looking for a secure place to keep a boat can trust Pe- ters Sugar Loaf Marina. With more than 400 boat slips, as well as locked and coded security gates, the marina has spaces for even the largest houseboats. Bob said a 22-by-104-foot slip is his largest.
“We’ve got the only covered houseboat slips on the lake,” he said.
For anyone who is looking to spend a day on the water but doesn’t own a boat, Peters Sugar Loaf Marina has pontoon boats available to rent. The marina has 30-foot and 21-foot pon- toon boats, 24-foot TriToon boats and canoes available for rent. The large boats feature walktop roofs, water slides and flushable restrooms.
“All of our rentals are new [boats],” he said.
In addition, Peters Sugar Loaf Marina has new pontoon boats for sale with a greater selection now than ever before. The marina carries full lines from JC and Landau Pontoons as well as, SeaArk boats, Playcraft pontoons and Hampton pontoons. These boat lines feature the most-wanted amenities, such as covered tops, plenty of seating, livewells, sound systems and more.
Peters Sugar Loaf Marina also offers an off-site service depart- ment. Located just outside the Sugar Loaf campsite, the service department is headed by Jonathan McNespey. There are two more mechanics on hand to perform maintenance and repairs. Also on the site is Peters Sugar Loaf Marina’s new dry-storage fa- cility, which can accommodate the largest RVs and boats, Bob said.
The marina also has a 24-hour, ethanol-free gas pump that allows for credit-card purchases. Shane Peters is the marina manager, and Amber Peters is the office manager.
Bob said the success of his marina comes from the family atmo- sphere and the relationships he’s built with his customers, and he enjoys working at the marina because he loves meeting new people and seeing returning friends.
“You deal with a lot of happy people if you’re at a marina,” he said. “Most everybody is off work, so you know they’re happy. When you walk in, you’re going to be talking to one of the owners. That’s what makes our people more comfortable.”
