DOWNTOWN LITTLE ROCK PARTNERSHIP: HOLDING THE VISION
Scott Schallhorn
Greetings from Downtown,
Times change. People change, and so do their cities. Buildings can be expanded or fade from the skyline. Asphalt can be repaved, repainted or reclaimed by the grasses of parklands. Change is inevi- table. But the constant through the years is the human drive to build communities — groups with a unifying foundation as rock solid as the very ground in which their lives have taken root.
The Downtown Little Rock Partnership strives every day to strengthen such a community — ours. Through leadership, partner- ship and initiative, we seek to grow and enhance Little Rock’s core and make our downtown one where someone can not only prosper and succeed, but live fully and live well.
Our community has a lot going for it. From the Capitol to the East Village and from Roosevelt to the river, our dynamism is our greatest strength. And it only fuels the passions of those looking for wealth, for excitement or for inspiration.
We look forward to the year ahead, to growing our community and promoting and strengthening our bonds. Together, we will weather any winds of change, and together, we will make our corner of the world an even better place to live, work, play and dream.
Here’s to 2017 and an exciting time for Downtown. Please contact us if there is anything we can do for you.
SCOTT SCHALLHORN, President
Downtown Little Rock Partnership Board of Directors
Gabe Holmstrom
Dear friends of Downtown,
At the Downtown Little Rock Partnership, we are always reaching out to existing and prospective members of our community. We listen to their needs and wants and help in any way we can, whether through promotion, advocacy or pure elbow grease.
This is shaping up to be a great year. We just launched our Ambas- sadors Program, an exciting new initiative aimed at making everyone feel welcome Downtown. This includes walking guests to their hotel, escorting patrons to a restaurant or cleaning graffiti off a streetlamp. We are looking forward to putting on existing events that residents have grown to love, such as our Fourth of July cookout and Main Street Food Truck Festival, but we are also looking forward to adding new endeavors to our bag of tricks.
We will be putting on several smaller events — alley parties and the like. These parties will serve not only to entertain but, hopefully, to engage new people. These events will put us on the radar, and such recognition will strengthen our community further. And I think we can have some fun while we do it.
Please enjoy the 2017 Downtown magazine. Let us know how we’re doing and what we can do to make our home even better. All ideas are good ideas. We look forward to hearing from you.
