end quite the way Searcy softball coach Matt Long envisioned, but he’s not about to dwell on it. In fact, he’s more interested in looking toward the future. With the firepower he’s got returning this year, it’s easy to see why, because a deep run through the state tournament might be in the cards for the Lady Lions. Searcy didn’t fare well in the 7A/6A East last season, but that’s not unusual when a team is playing in a strong league, Long said. In fact, every team that reached the postseason from the 7A/6A- East Conference moved on to at least the sec- ond round, with North Little Rock eventually winning the Class 7A state title and Marion advancing to the Class 6A semifinals.
