available for youth
High-school and college programs aid farm education
The Farm Family of the Year program acts as a staple of celebration to Ar- kansas farmers and their families.
The Farm Family of the Year recognition doesn’t come without vast knowledge of agriculture and the best methods of pro- ducing crops. Arkansas has some superb programs and degree opportunities for farmers to further improve their expertise.
As agriculture continues to be profit- able in the state, the focus may even in- crease within the next few years as a result of the demand for food to keep up with the growing population. There are many agriculture programs, scholarships and degree opportunities to help the students of Arkansas gain knowledge and thrive in their future efforts.
The Arkansas Farm Bureau has an award-winning program, Ag in the Class- room, that focuses on educating youth on the origins of food and clothing as they relate to agriculture. Along with this program and school-garden grants, the Arkansas Farm Bureau offers scholarship opportunities.
The Arkansas Farm Bureau Schol- arship Foundation provides 12 $3,000 scholarships per year; the Romeo E. Short Foundation Scholarship awards 10 $2,000 scholarships each year; and the Marvin Vines Scholarship, honoring the late agri- cultural broadcaster, is given to a student majoring in radio-TV at Arkansas State University.

Arkansas offers numerous opportunities for students of all ages to learn about agriculture through farming programs in schools and through extra curricular activities. Some of these programs include FFA and 4-H.
