OVERVIEW
The faculty and staff of the University of Central Arkansas promote the intellectual, professional, social and personal develop- ment of their students through innovations in learning, scholarship and creative endeavors. Founded in 1907, UCA is dedicated to aca- demic vitality, integrity and diversity.
ACADEMICS
More than 11,500 students from all coun- ties in Arkansas, 46 states and 60 countries create a vibrant, diverse living-and-learning community in Conway.
UCA offers 142 degrees and certificates, including undergraduate degrees, master’s de- grees, specialist degrees, graduate certificates and doctoral degrees. UCA is large enough to provide students with a complete college ex- perience but small enough to provide personal interest and support with a student-to-faculty ratio of 17-to-1. Students are given research and publication opportunities at the undergraduate level that most students at other universities don’t have until graduate school.
UCA is known for its strong programs in the health and behavioral sciences, as well as education, business, digital filmmaking and the arts. The Norbert O. Schedler Honors College is nationally known for its unique, challenging curriculum.
FAR-REACHING OPPORTUNITIES
Students at UCA have access to opportuni- ties at regional, national and international lev- els. Student films play at film festivals in mar- kets across the country, such as Los Angeles and Miami. Every year, UCA students have the opportunity to participate in a service-learning project in Rwanda, where they contribute to society by teaching science to children. For students looking to study abroad, there are many different programs to choose from in
countries such as France, China, or Argentina.
STUDENT LIFE
The university offers unique living- and-learning communities known as residen- tial colleges, including the STEM Residential College, along with other disciplines. Stu- dents can choose from 185 registered student organizations, from fraternities, sororities and other social organizations to departmental, honors and religious organizations.
UCA has nearly 400 students participating in 17 Division I sports for men and women in the Southland Conference. UCA has won more than 20 conference championships in football and produced 13 All-Americans in basketball. UCA athletes dominate academ- ically, too, ranking first in the Southland Con- ference in graduation success rates.
A GROWING CAMPUS
UCA is undertaking construction and renovation projects of key student facilities. Continuing its leadership in programs such as occupational and physical therapy, UCA has added a residential college focused
on health and behavioral sciences.
The newly expanded and renovated Health Physical Education and Recreation Center opened in November with several
exciting improvements.
Projects currently underway include Dona-
ghey Hall – a mixed-use residential and retail facility – along with the Greek Village housing system where fraternities and sororities will soon enjoy beautiful new housing and brand- new common-use spaces.
Plans for a 50,000-square-foot, three-story addition and renovation to the Lewis Science Center also are underway.
UCA puts its students and their education front and center. For more information, visit www.uca.edu.
